Bukies Book Club Takes Reading Culture Campaign to Public School in Lagos
In a heartfelt effort to ignite a love for reading among children, members of Bukies Book Club paid a special visit to an urban public primary school, bringing along storybooks, writing materials, and a powerful message: “Every book is a key to something magical.”
The school compound buzzed with excitement as pupils gathered to receive their books and writing materials. Members from the club spent time reading aloud to the children, exploring new stories together, and encouraging them to use their imagination.
However, during the outreach, the team observed a significant gap the school had no functional library. Without a dedicated space for books, nurturing a consistent reading culture becomes a challenge. This made the gesture even more impactful, as each donated book became a mini personal library for a child eager to learn.
Reading isn’t just a hobby; it’s the foundation for lifelong learning. Access to books gives children the tools to dream bigger, think clearly, and express themselves confidently. Yet, many public-school pupils remain at a disadvantage due to a lack of basic learning resources. By placing storybooks and writing materials directly in the hands of these pupils, Bukies Book Club aims to spark curiosity and help each child take the first step toward unlocking their potential.
While small efforts can inspire change, the organization believes that lasting impact requires broader support. Bukies Club is calling on government agencies, educational leaders, and community stakeholders to invest in equipping public primary schools with libraries and learning materials.
