Alert MfB, NGO Partner to Boost Nigeria’s WASH Sector
Alert Microfinance Bank (MfB) has reinforced its commitment to Nigeria’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector through a strategic partnership with international non-profit organization, Aqua for All.
During a recent media briefing, Alert MFB revealed that before the partnership, over 20 percent of its Gross Loan Portfolio was already directed toward WASH-related businesses. The collaboration has now enabled the bank to develop more specialized financial products tailored to the sector’s evolving needs.
A key innovation under the initiative is the WASH Plus Loan, a fast-disbursing loan product created for short-term WASH projects. With a turnaround time of just 48 hours, the facility is designed for entrepreneurs who require swift funding access. The existing WASH Loan product also remains available for broader business needs, including the sales of plumbing materials, sanitation products, and related services.
Our partnership with Aqua for All is not just about finance; it’s about creating long-term impact,” said Mr. Raji Saheed, Managing Director of Alert Microfinance Bank. “We are empowering entrepreneurs in the WASH sector with the financial tools, training, and technical support they need to scale their services and improve community health outcomes.”
“This partnership reflects our belief in the power of finance to drive meaningful social transformation,” said Dr. Kazeem Olanrewaju, Group CEO of Alert Group. “Through CSR and entrepreneurial empowerment, we are fostering sustainable growth and improving livelihoods.”
Reaffirming the bank’s long-term vision, Mr. Saheed stated that “there is no turning back” as Alert MFB continues to scale up disbursement volumes and CSR activities in the months ahead.
