The Katsina State Government in partnership with Qatar Charity Nigeria, has empowered 160 orphans and vulnerable persons across the state with economic items to improve their living condition.
The items distributed to the beneficiaries at the Government House on Wednesday were 20 tricycles, 100 sewing machines, 20 grinding machines and 20 cargo motorcycles.
Distributing the items to the beneficiaries, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda described the initiative as a lifeline and a transformative tool for economic growth and prosperity of the beneficiaries.
He said the humanitarian gesture had equipped the orphans and vulnerable persons with relevant tools to start businesses, generate income, feed their families and contribute meaningfully to the society.
Radda reiterated his administration’s committment to building a state where every child is safe, grows and every household has the chance to rise from poverty to economic prosperity through supportive programmes and policies.
He said: “Your (Qatar Charity Nigeria) partnership with our government reflects the spirit of compassion, solidarity, and share of humility that transcend borders and culture.
“Today (Wednesday), we gather not just to distribute goods but to restore dignity, hope and opportunity to those who have faced hardship, loss and vulnerability. We are here to say you are not forgotten, you are seen, and you are valued.
“To the orphans, widows, elderly and vulnerable individuals receiving this empowerment kit today, know that your lives matter, know that your struggles have not gone unnoticed, and know that the state stands with you in your journey towards self-reliance and a better future.”
In his remarks, the Country Director of Qatar Charity Nigeria, Assem Abu Alshaer, said the economic empowerment was to cater for the needs of orphans and vulnerable persons in the state.
He added that the Qatar Charity Nigeria will continue to support the Katsina State Government in alleviating the sufferings “of the most vulnerable persons” in order to improve their livelihoods.
Earlier, the Special Adviser to Governor Radda on Girl-child Education and Child Development, Jamila Abdu Mani, said the state government has transformed the lives of vulnerable people, especially children.
