SATH Unveils $300,000 AI Experience Centre at FUTO to Drive Academic Excellence in Nigeria
Signal Alliance Technology Holding (SATH), through its Corporate Social Responsibility arm, the SATH Foundation, has officially launched the AI Experience Centre at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO).
The landmark project reflects SATH’s ongoing commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and industry-driven innovation in Africa.
Unveiled under the theme: ‘Experience AI. Imagine More’, the centre introduces a new dimension to teaching and research, giving students and faculty the opportunity to interact with artificial intelligence in a practical, hands-on way. From live demonstrations to interactive lab sessions, the facility enables learners to design, test, and deploy intelligent systems while building critical problem-solving skills.
As part of the initiative, SATH has committed $300,000 over five years to support the Centre’s long-term operations, expand its digital learning infrastructure, and strengthen AI capacity across multiple academic disciplines. This investment ensures sustainability and impact beyond the launch, creating a foundation for innovation that will benefit generations of students at FUTO and beyond.
At the launch, guests participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony, guided tours of the facility, and demonstrations showcasing real-world applications of AI within academic contexts.
Faculty and students alike expressed enthusiasm about the opportunities that the centre unlocks.
Speaking during the unveiling Chairman of SATH, Collins Onuegbu, said: “This initiative brings AI out of theory and into application. It creates a space where students can build, test, and deploy intelligent systems—not in the future, but right now. We believe this is how Africa begins to prepare its next generation of innovators and leaders.”
Deputy Vice Chancellor of Research and Innovation at FUTO, Professor Emeka Oguzie, emphasised the significance of the collaboration, noting: “This partnership with SATH is a strong example of how academia and industry can come together to drive impact. We are equipping our students with the skills and mindset to lead in a digital-first world.”
The AI Experience Centre reflects SATH’s broader vision to leverage technology for social good, enhance access to innovation, and build Africa’s human capital for the digital economy.
