The Administrator of Starfield College, Fagba, Chris Eigbe, has applauded parents’ commitment to their children’s educational needs despite the prevailing economic challenges in the country.
Speaking in Lagos during the graduation of the class of 2024/2025, Eigbe, the Director of Studies, urged them not to relent in their support for the graduands in the next phase of their careers, as the best is yet to come.
“On behalf of the school and the management, we appreciated your financial support towards your children despite the soaring inflation and economic challenges the outbreak has witnessed recently.
“It has been a demanding year for all of us. The economy has tried us sorely, but we are here smiling and feeling good, glory be to God. Not only that, the examination bodies have tried your patience, but you remain undaunted, your support for children never wavered, and your focus on their success in life never shifted.
“As they step out of Starfield College, I am sure that these children in their public and private life will honour you and make you proud; your efforts and guidance in them will not be in vain,” he said.
The Principal, Sara Oyinloye, challenged the parents not to withdraw their support, guidance, and love, which have played a vital role in shaping the individuals the graduates have become.
“Academically, they have excelled in their WASSCE, and they also did very well in the JAMB exam, with a lot of them scoring over 300. Some have already gotten university admission, while some are about to travel out of the country to further their education. “Beyond academics, we have supported your wards through our mentoring, moral and character building programme, and we hope strongly that as parents you will also encourage your children not to deviate from the norms,” she said.
Oyinloye told the graduands that setbacks are inevitable, but it is their resilience and determination that will ultimately define success.
“As you write the next chapter of your life, remember to be brave, be curious as technology has taken over, don’t be left behind, and be open to growth, stay true to yourself, pursue your passions, and make a positive impact in the world,” said Oyinloye.
One of the overall best graduating students, Akiogbe David Akorede, who intends to study mechatronics engineering, having scored 350 in JAMB, attributed the success of the 88 graduating students to hard work and late-night classes.
“I appreciate the camping. It was much needed, seeing as we were practically pushed to read because 12 hours in a day, you are being made to read, you have no option. We also appreciate our teachers who came at night to teach us from 7 pm to 9 pm Monday to Friday,” he said.
