The African Democratic Congress (ADC) 2023 gubernatorial candidate for Benue State, Engr Terhemen Tilley-Gyado, has backed the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, and endorsed Hon. Nafiu Bala as Acting National Chairman.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, Tilley-Gyado described Nwosu’s voluntary resignation as an honourable act that reflects respect for the party’s constitution and a commitment to smooth leadership transition.
He said Bala, the former Deputy National Chairman, would provide stability and continuity as the party advances its political mission.
The ADC candidate urged prominent coalition leaders, including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, David Mark, Nasir El-Rufai, Rauf Aregbesola and others, to resign from their previous parties and formally register with the ADC at ward level.
He stressed that compliance with the Electoral Act and the party’s constitution was necessary for the integrity of the coalition-building process.
Tilley-Gyado reaffirmed the ADC’s identity as a progressive, integrity-driven platform committed to credible opposition and democratic renewal.
He called on members, supporters and political allies to unite behind the principles of transparency, legality and good governance to help build what he described as “a new Nigeria.”
