Belgium issues commemorative stamps honouring Dalai Lama’s 90th Birthday

The Office of Tibet in Brussels has launched a special series of commemorative postal stamps to mark the ‘Year of Compassion’ in honour of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday.

Officially issued by the Belgian postal service, the stamps will be used in all public and official correspondence from July to July 6, 2025, to July 5, 2026. They are available for domestic, European, and international destinations, each bearing the inscription “Year of Compassion—90th Birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet.”

“By integrating these stamps into everyday communication, the initiative aims to spread the message of compassion far and wide, a tribute in every letter, reinforcing the idea that every act, no matter how small, can contribute to a kinder and more understanding world,” said representative for the Office of Tibet, Brussels, Genkhang Rigzin Choedon.

The release of the stamps is part of a broader global observance of the Year of Compassion, with events planned across continents.

His Holiness The Dalai Lama, born on 6 July 1935, has long been regarded as a beacon of peace and a spiritual leader whose teachings transcend borders and religions. As he enters his 90th year, this tribute not only celebrates his enduring legacy but also invites people from all walks of life to embody compassion in thought, word, and deed.

The Year of Compassion commemorative stamps are available for the public, philatelists and supporters at the Office of Tibet Brussels at their face value with no additional cost.
