Dell Davies: From Reality TV and Entrepreneurship to Redefining Financial Independence in the Diaspora

Dell Davies’ journey spans multiple continents and industries from film sets in Liberia and reality TV in Nigeria to boardrooms and trading screens in the United States. A dynamic figure in the Liberian diaspora, Davies is carving a path that reflects both reinvention and resilience.

An Americo-Liberian entrepreneur, actor, and philanthropist, Davies first gained public attention as a contestant on The Next Movie Star, a Nigerian reality TV show that spotlighted emerging African talent. He went on to appear in several films in both Liberia and the U.S., establishing himself as a versatile performer before expanding his impact beyond entertainment.

Today, Davies serves as the CEO of Capital Safety Services and Capital Aqua in Liberia, and is currently developing Capital Night Club, a high-end nightlife destination expected to open soon in Monrovia. His ventures are not only helping shape the country’s hospitality and service industries but are also creating jobs and opportunities for young Liberians.

Davies’ story took a sharp turn during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, like many immigrants in the U.S., he lost his job then working at a warehouse and was forced to
re-evaluate his path. Rather than return to a conventional 9–5, he began exploring online trading using free educational resources. Over time, he taught himself to trade in assets like Gold, Tesla, and crypto, representing a growing number of African youth abroad who are leveraging digital tools to pursue economic freedom.

“I couldn’t wait for the system to save me. I had to learn how to save myself,” Davies reflected on his transition.

While speculative trading carries significant risks, advocates argue that when paired with discipline and education, it can offer a viable supplement or even alternative to traditional income streams, especially for immigrants facing systemic barriers in the job market.

Beyond business and finance, Davies is a dedicated philanthropist and father of four. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology, along with several diplomas in IT and business management. His community-focused initiatives and entrepreneurial vision continue to inspire others particularly in the African diaspora to redefine what success looks like on their own terms.

As Liberia rebuilds and young Africans abroad seek new models for growth, figures like Dell Davies are proving that reinvention is possible and that sometimes, it’s those who’ve faced the greatest setbacks who end up driving the boldest transformations.
