Tosin Ojo Demystifies Business Intelligence in New Book

For many aspiring professionals, the world of data analytics and business intelligence can feel like a maze filled with jargon, complex tools, and overwhelming information. But for Tosin Ojo, a Nigerian analytics engineer and STEM advocate, the solution begins with simplicity and storytelling.

In his newly released book, Understanding Business Intelligence with Microsoft Power BI, Ojo offers a practical guide aimed at helping readers especially those switching into tech or just starting their careers make sense of business data using one of the most widely used tools in the field, Microsoft Power BI.

Speaking on the inspiration for the book, he stated that it came from his own journey transitioning from a mathematics background into a data-driven career. “Many people want to break into data but feel overwhelmed. I wrote this book as a simplified, practical resource for those trying to understand Power BI, storytelling with data, and how to turn information into actionable insight,” he explained.

Beyond his writing, Ojo is an active member of the global Microsoft Power Platform community. He regularly shares knowledge through webinars, community workshops, and digital training programmes, particularly targeted at African youths in underserved areas.

The book goes beyond basic tutorials. It dives into real-world data modeling, DAX (Data Analysis Expressions), and the role of data storytelling in decision-making. It also offers career insights for junior analysts, transitioning professionals, and business managers hoping to align technical skills with workplace needs.

Ojo, who currently works as an Analytics Engineer in the food manufacturing industry, emphasized the growing importance of data literacy across sectors. “Business intelligence is more than charts and dashboards. It’s about enabling smarter decisions. Power BI is just one tool, but learning how to use it effectively gives professionals a serious edge,” he said.

While the book is available for purchase online, Ojo hopes its reach goes beyond transactions. “My hope is that someone picks it up and says, ‘Now I get it — and I’m ready to grow.’”
