Ibrahim Pelumi Lasisi, a Nigerian full-stack engineer based in Sheffield, has received the Crest Africa Award for Systems and Automation Innovator of the Year and the Limitless Without Borders (LWB) Award for Borderless Technology Builder, in recognition of his work on AI-driven solutions aimed at improving job access across African markets.
The Crest Africa Award and the LWB recognition were awarded in acknowledgment of Lasisi’s contributions to developing digital tools aimed at improving access to employment opportunities and simplifying technology use across underserved markets.
Central to his work is WorqNow, a job automation platform that integrates employment listings from multiple sources and delivers them through messaging platforms. The system is designed to enable users to access job opportunities, receive tailored recommendations, and generate CVs without the need for additional applications or multiple account registrations.
Speaking on the approach behind the platform, Lasisi said the development was influenced by the need to reduce barriers faced by job seekers, particularly those operating in low-bandwidth environments or relying on mobile-first communication tools.
The platform applies artificial intelligence to personalise job recommendations and operates on cloud-based infrastructure intended to support scalability and accessibility. Its deployment through widely used messaging services reflects a broader trend of integrating digital services into existing communication channels.
Beyond this platform, Lasisi’s work includes the development of software systems across areas such as cloud infrastructure, real-time communication, and automation tools deployed for various clients.
Industry observers note that such recognitions reflect growing attention to technology solutions that address practical constraints, including limited connectivity and fragmented access to digital services.
