Jeweller Kolade Taiwo Describes Late Father as Quiet Hero, Steady Friend

Jeweller and Chief Executive Officer of Accolade Jewellers, Kolade Adebajo Taiwo, has described his late father Omooba Micheal Kolawole Taiwo as a quiet hero whose steady love, unwavering presence, and humble strength shaped not just his family, but a wider circle of lives.

Mr. Omooba Micheal Kolawole Taiwo, who died on March 31, 2025, was 74 years old.

In an emotional tribute shared with ThisDay, Taiwo painted the portrait of a man who led by example, lived with integrity, and loved without conditions.

“Some of my fondest memories with my father are the simplest ones,” he began, his voice laced with reverence. “The quiet talks during walks, the way he always made time, no matter how demanding his schedule, to be there. Whether cheering from the sidelines or sitting me down for life advice, he was always present.”

To Taiwo, his father was more than a parent, he was a dependable friend and moral compass whose influence endures in the values he instilled.

“He didn’t need to raise his voice to be heard,” he said. “His love and lessons were clear in the way he lived, calmly, consistently, and with great heart.”

But his impact wasn’t confined to his immediate family. Known and respected within the community, the late Mr. Taiwo was described as a quiet force, offering help, guidance, and mentorship where it was most needed, and never for applause.

“People trusted him,” Kolade said. “He showed up for neighbours, mentored young people, and supported causes that mattered. He wasn’t interested in being noticed, he simply did the right thing because it was right.”

The legacy of values he passed down, integrity, humility, kindness, resilience, are now foundational in the life of his son.

“He taught us to be dependable, to listen, to show up, not for praise, but because it’s who we are. These weren’t just lessons; they were life blueprints,” he added.

Taiwo also spoke about his father’s unshakable strength in the face of life’s trials.

“He met challenges with a calmness that inspired us. No drama, no self-pity. Just quiet perseverance and sometimes even humour. He taught us that true resilience doesn’t shout,it moves steadily forward with faith and heart.”

When asked what he would say to his father if given the chance, Taiwo’s response was filled with quiet emotion.

“I’d say thank you. For everything, for your love, your presence, your example. I miss you every day, but I feel you in all I do. I hope I’m making you proud.”

Through his words and the legacy he continues to uphold, Kolade Adebajo Taiwo stands as a living testament to a father whose greatest gift was the strength of his example, and whose absence only deepens the clarity of the life he lived.
