Rising Afrobeats and R&B artiste Waji-Mh has said that his latest single “Believe” is a personal declaration of hope, growth, and faith in one’s own journey.
Speaking in an exclusive chat with our correspondent, the Nigerian-born artiste shared that the song represents a new phase in his creative evolution. “It’s more than music for me; ‘Believe’ is about reminding people that their dreams are valid—no matter how far away they seem,” he said.
Known for his emotionally honest songwriting, Waji-Mh added that the inspiration behind “Believe”came during a period of deep reflection. “We live in a time where self-doubt is common, especially in the creative space. I wanted to create something that reaffirms belief in self and in purpose,” he said.
Describing the track, he said, “It’s a fusion of Afro-soul and R&B elements, and it’s intentionally soft and introspective. I didn’t want to overproduce it. The message had to breathe.”
The single, which was independently released in May 2025, has begun gaining traction among fans who have praised its minimalist production and powerful messaging.
Recalling his early days, Waji-Mh said he began writing songs in his teens, inspired by both gospel and soul traditions. “I grew up around a lot of sound—Nigerian highlife, Jazz, Reggae, 90s R&B, Afrobeats, Gospel harmonies—it all influenced how I make music today,” he explained.
In addition to his work as a vocalist and songwriter, Waji-Mh is also involved in the creative direction of his projects with a long-term goal to push African soul and R&B music to global audiences. “I want my sound to be rooted in honesty. I want people to hear my music, feel empowered and have cause to live,” he said.
With Believe, Waji-Mh appears ready to carve his own lane in a competitive industry—one grounded not in noise, but in nuance and purpose.
