Lions Club Honours Ifetayo for His Humanitarian Services

On Sunday, July 6th, 2025, the prestigious halls of Marriott Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos, played host to a remarkable convergence of the crème de la crème of society as Lions, humanitarian partners, and media allies gathered for the Lions District 404B2 End of Lions Service Year Award Ceremony.

The event, themed “Per Servitium, Ad Honorem – Through Service, Toward Honor,” was a dazzling celebration of dedication, impact, and service excellence. The immediate past District Governor, Lion Tolulope Senbanjo PMJF, NLCF, led the evening in recognizing outstanding individuals and clubs whose service records elevated the district throughout the 2024–2025 service year.

Awards were presented across various distinguished categories, including: Humanitarian Pillar Award, Service Excellence Award, Exceptional Service Award, Outstanding Service Appreciation Award, Outstanding Region Chairpersons Award, Outstanding Zone Chairpersons Award, Outstanding Committee Chairpersons Award, Top/Best 5 Newly Chartered Clubs, Top 10 Clubs of the Year, Top 10 Presidents of the Year, Most Supportive Media Partners, Lion of the Year Award.

Emerging as Best Club of the Year was Ikeja Dynamic Model Lions Club, while Ikeja Viva L’amour Lions Club and Lagos Pacific Lions Club clinched the second and third positions respectively.

In the Newly Chartered Club category, Ekiti One Mind Lions Club was adjudged the Best New Club, followed closely by Lagos Indiana Lions Club in second place and Lagos Elite Lions Club in third.

In the presidential category, Lion (Dr.) Yemisi Rasaq PMJF, NLCF of Lagos Pacific Lions Club was named Best President of the Year, in recognition of her exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to service.

Dr. Adeniyi Ifetayo, chief executive officer of Megastar Media Communications was presented with a Humanitarian Pillars Award.

Ifetayo, one of the guests on Guinness World Record 120 hours of longest marathon radio talk show spoke with Thisday after the award presentation. Hear him: “Well, like they said a golden fish does not have a hiding place, whatever we are doing, we should have a consciousness that people are watching us, whether you are aware or not. If you are doing good or not, people are watching you.

Speaking further, he said: “A golden fish has no hiding place, whatever we do; people are watching us. ” From the little you have , share with your neighbour. If you can’t share 100,00, you won’t be able to share 100,000. The purpose of giving back is doing it for people who can’t pay back, just like I said, I saw what they are doing and in my little way of support, I started doing something.”

Se banjo noted that the award is given only to those that exhibit the highest degree of philanthropy and service.

“That Ifetayo was among those considered worthy of such award is a testimony to his dedication to humanitarian service. His values align with the mission and vision of Lion’s Clubs International, ” he said

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Lion of the Year Award, the district’s highest individual honor which was deservedly shared by two service giants:

Lion Olukokun Adedeji PMJF, NLCF, Chairperson of the Marketing and Communications Team, whose dynamic leadership and innovation elevated the District’s branding and visibility to unprecedented levels.

Lion Sanyaolu Opeyemi MJF, NLCF, whose stellar performance as District Administrator stood out as a model of excellence and reliability.

Gracing the occasion were eminent Lions leaders, including PID H.O.B Lawal PMJF, NLCF, PCC Olaitan Onalaja PMJF, NLCF, PDG Funke Adebajo PMJF, NLCF, CAL Taiwo Adewunmi PMJF, NLCF, District Governor Oluwakemi Eribake MJF NLCF amongst others lending grace and grandeur to the event. The Chairperson of the event, Lion Kate Obalim PMJF, and her dedicated team did an exceptional job hosting such a fabulous and well-coordinated award night.

Also present to entertain guests with electrifying performances was popular Nigerian singer, Small Doctor, who added vibrant energy to the evening.
