Iyanga Woman’s Soul Sisters Collection Debuts as Chic, Versatile Ready-to-Wear Line for Modern Women

Nigerian fashion house Akwa Iyanga has officially stepped into the ready-to-wear market with the launch of Iyanga woman kicking off with the Soul Sisters Collection, a new line that marks a pivot from the brand’s traditional bespoke roots. The collection was unveiled this week with an exclusive brunch in Abuja, attracting stylists, creatives, and fashion enthusiasts alike.

Designed by sisters and co-founders Maryann and Chinwendu, the collection is inspired by the themes of modern sisterhood, femininity, and the fast-paced realities of contemporary women. The designers, who also serve as creative directors of the brand, describe the line as “a wardrobe for women on the go, who don’t want to compromise style for convenience.”

“In today’s world, not everyone has time to wait weeks for custom pieces,” said Chinwendu. “We’ve created garments that are ready when you are, without losing the design DNA we’re known for.”

The Soul Sisters Collection features soft fabrics, clean lines, and a modern color palette that blends earthy neutrals with bold accents. With an emphasis on comfort and versatility, the pieces are designed to transition seamlessly from daywear to evening outings allowing the wearer to restyle with minimal effort. The collection includes flowy dresses, structured tops, tailored pants, and adaptable two-piece sets.

Founded in 2025 as a spin-off of Akwa Iyanga, a bespoke brand famed for its bespoke and custom designs, Iyanga Woman aims to appeal to a broader audience of style-savvy Nigerian women through this new venture. According to the designers, the shift to ready-to-wear also reflects a wider industry trend driven by demand for quick, fashionable, and functional clothing.

“We wanted to create something stylish, accessible, and meaningful for women who live in the real world,” said Maryann.

The launch comes at a time when the Nigerian fashion industry is evolving rapidly, with more consumers seeking high-quality, off-the-rack alternatives to custom tailoring. Analysts say the move may give Iyanga Woman a competitive edge as shoppers increasingly value speed, affordability, and reusability without compromising on aesthetics.

With this launch, the brand appears set to redefine how contemporary Nigerian women dress balancing cultural roots with modern fashion sensibilities.
