Leader of True Word in Season, a youth organisation under the Celestial Church of Christ, Brother Demola Bolaji, has announced a string of programmes queued up for the 40th remembrance anniversary of the founder of the church, Rev. Samuel Oshoffa.
At a press conference recently held at the National Headquarters of the church, in Makoko, Lagos, the organisation also unveiled the official logo for the event, which is bound to span six months.
Bolaji also revealed that a juvenile Bible quiz will be held on May 24, with the winner going home with $1,500 cash prize, adding that a juvenile choir competition would be held on May 27. He noted that the winning choir would get $2,000 prize money.
He further stated that on May 18, a 116-day season of testimonies would commence.
According to him, “it would feature 116 people who share remarkable testimonies of their encounters with Oshoffa.”
Sharing what he described as an unforgettable encounter with Oshoffa, Bolaji narrated how he got the opportunity to meet Jesus Christ through him, stating that “he (Jesus) would later teach him the scripture and celestialism for one year and six months.
“Encountering this man allowed me to experience the presence of Jesus. On March 12, 1984, I was with him at his Ketu office. We sat and we spoke. That very night, two angels came and said they were instructed to bring me.
“I began to cry. Angels? Bring me? That’s the end of life. We began to wrestle, but they prevailed. They took me away. At the entrance of the building, there was an angel with a double sword. He stood and looked at me.
“I prostrated and said I knew I was a sinner, I said, ‘I’m here, just tell me what you want to say and let me go back. I didn’t walk, the floor was moving. He said the person calling me was inside. I felt I was going to a land of no return. I didn’t walk till I got to him (Jesus). He sat, and I sat. He said I would teach you celestialism and the Scripture. He (Jesus) taught me for one year and six months.”
According to Bolaji, the essence of the 40th remembrance is to reveal the legacies of the founder, adding that plans are in the pipeline to do a documentary on the life and times of the founder.
In his welcome address, the Shepherd of CCC National Headquarters, Makoko, Venerable Superior Evangelist Afis Kiki, expressed delight at the celebration of the life and times of the founder of the church, while also extending prayers to the participants in the event and its organisers.
