The Dev-Afrique Advisors held a high-level discussion with the Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency (KADIPA) on how to explore private sector strategies in supporting the implementation of Kaduna’s Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) Policy.
The meeting also highlighted Kaduna’s dedication to creating an enabling environment for women entrepreneurs by leveraging private sector engagement and data-driven approaches.
The discussion also assessed existing support mechanisms and brainstormed on innovative strategies that would strengthen female entrepreneurship in the state.
The Executive Secretary of KADIPA, Mr. Sadiq Muhammed, highlighted the agency’s support programs, notably the aftercare unit that provides ongoing assistance with regulatory processes, licensing, and market access.
Muhammed reaffirmed KADIPA’s commitment to supporting women entrepreneurs and facilitating investment across sectors.
He also pledged to support the WEE initiative by providing access to vital data on women-owned businesses, which is crucial for policy evaluation and designing targeted support programs.
He further committed to improving collaboration between women entrepreneurs and other government ministries as well as fostering an integrated support network that would reduce bureaucratic barriers and broadens economic opportunities.
The partnership exemplified Kaduna’s strategic alignment—integrating government efforts with private sector support to realize the full potential of women-led businesses and promote inclusive growth.
In her comment, the Senior Advisor and WEE Specialist at Dev-Afrique, Mrs. Hansatu Adegbeti, emphasised the importance of private sector engagement for scaling women’s economic participation.
The partnership would empower individual entrepreneurs, embed gender-sensitive practices within private enterprises, and encourage corporate responsibility and innovation.
Overall, Kaduna’s comprehensive approach of combining government initiatives with private sector support is setting a strong foundation for transforming the state into a regional hub of women-led entrepreneurship.
This integrated strategy offers a helpful blueprint for other regions seeking to embed gender equality within economic development frameworks, demonstrating the power of coordinated public-private efforts to foster sustainable and inclusive prosperity.
