COFFHA: Celebrates Christmas With Patients At General Hospital Lagos, Holds Annual Thanksgiving Service.

The Commitee of Friends for Humanity led by its President Mrs Augustina Igbokwe alongside executives and members of the association recently paid hospital bills for some needy patients at the General Hospital Marina Lagos.

This gesture is themed ” Helping Hands Initiative” which is in line with the associations end of year activities for 2024 in meeting the needs of the most vulnerable in the society, as they took a tour of the wards in the General Hospital in company of Mrs Okunmuyiide Oluwakemi the head of the welfare unit to put smiles on the faces of patients who had no hope of spending the Christmas with their families as a result of outstanding bills.

The President in her remark stated that there is no humanity when one is self centred as buttressed by our LORD JESUS CHRIST in Luke Chapter 4 of the Holy Bible where it was stated that HE came to set the captives free.

She further stated that aside from paying the hospital bills, monies were given for the payment of drugs. She added that some challenges of the patients that they could solve were also met.

Speaking further Chief Mrs Carol Ufere who is the Co – Founder of COFFHA and Chairman BOT stated that in the 33 years of the associations existence human angle initiatives have been carried out to meet the needs of the society. She added that some of these initiatives include: refurbishing of the LASUTH ward B children’s ward, refurbishment of the women’s ward at Apapa Medical Centre and purchase of a 20kva generator for the ward, building and equipping the emergency unit of the Isolo General Hospital, purchase of a dialysis machine at the Gbagada General Hospital amongst others.

In addition, Lady Uche Obi the associations publicity secretary mentioned that COFFHA is focused on helping vulnerable women and youth. She reiterated that the association engages in empowering widows and also organises periodic programmes to feed the hungry in the society.

Furthermore the association held her annual Thanksgiving service at Our Savior’s Church at Tafawa Balewa Square Lagos Island to thank GOD for his blessings in 2024 and for crossing over to the new year 2025 with so much optimism , hope and the grace to do more for humanity.

It will be recalled that the association holds her Thanksgiving services annually which has become a norm as they believe that it is GOD who gives the power to touch and impact lives and all praises belongs to HIM.
