Budding Nigerian artiste Qing Madi starts the year on a high note, having been named Spotify’s EQUAL Africa Artist for January 2025. She now joins a prestigious roster of artists previously featured in the programme, including Ayra Starr, Tyla, and Tems, all celebrated as exceptional talents from the continent.

Qing Madi is no stranger to Spotify’s EQUAL programme, having previously graced the EQUAL playlist. However, her latest recognition as a featured artist solidifies her status as a trailblazer and reflects her impressive growth trajectory in the African music industry.

From the recently published Spotify Wrapped 2024, Qing Madi ranked among the most-streamed female artists in both Nigeria and Ghana, with her hit ‘American Love’ emerging as the second most-streamed song in Uganda.

“Qing Madi is a phenomenal talent whose music resonates deeply with audiences both in Africa and beyond. We are thrilled to see her return as an EQUAL artist and can’t wait to see her continue breaking boundaries and inspiring the next generation of artists,” said Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, Phiona Okumu.

“It’s an incredible feeling to start the year with such significant recognition. Being part of the EQUAL programme again means a lot to me, and I’m grateful for Spotify’s support in highlighting the voices of African women,” an elated Qing Madi shared.
