THE SILENCER’S COLLECTION – GIVENO’S 2024 COLLECTION
If someone mispronounces your name, would you correct them?
Think about it for a moment before you answer.
If your answer is no, you sure wouldn’t be excited at such a mistake either way. So, you see, the fact remains that no one likes to be wrongly addressed.
There is a wise saying that goes, ‘Dress how you want to be addressed.’ That sentence depicts exactly what Chisom Clara Aguocha aims for all women to achieve. As a fashion designer, Chisom considers it her responsibility to help women express themselves through their clothing. And in a bid to do just that, she established her fashion brand, Giveno, in 2018.
Over the past years, Giveno has evolved into a clothing label that builds women’s confidence through their dressing style and one that challenges existing fashion trends. From asymmetrical structures to fluid exquisite cuts, the team at Giveno experiments to craft women’s wear that makes audacious proclamations like ‘Here comes wealth’ or ‘Royalty has arrived.’ Giveno’s vision is to impact without excess, and each design is said to turn heads at every event. Could this really be true, though?
In this blog post, we aim to review Giveno’s 2024 series, the silencer’s collection, in a bid to see if Giveno truly makes outfits that make women the cynosure of a room.
Sit tight and lock in as we go on a fashion adventure.
Let’s begin with the first piece in this collection.
This two-piece is the very definition of fashion. Chisom deserves her flowers for this piece. The blouse and skirt are expressive outfits that would definitely be the choice of any fashion enthusiast. And what stands out the most is the colour theme of this design. The blend of white, black, and burnt umber has never been so perfectly executed before.
The colour choice gives this piece a vintage look that appeals to all skin types. This piece would highlight the unique skin tone of a fair lady and would also complement a dark-skinned woman. The fabrics used are another interesting feature of this design. At first glance, one’s attention is drawn to the textile. The material looks luxurious and is thick. It is the perfect fabric for cold seasons.
Chisom’s artistic potential is largely showcased through the design concept of this piece. From the posterior view, this outfit looks like a gown. However, when viewed from the front, one would discover that it is merely a design manipulation. The white blouse is a unique croptop with a V-neckline that can be manipulated to give an asymmetrical cut. The wearer can choose to bend one side of the blouse to give a one-sided off-shoulder cut.

The bust region of the gown is designed with a cross pattern in the fabric that highlights the wearer’s tummy. The material flows freely to the back, is joined at the waist region, and then extends further to form two tails that end below the knees. The blouse has no sleeves.
However, the design is made in a style that covers the wearer’s arms slightly. The absence of sleeves may be a turn-off to conservative dressers. A short sleeve would serve a wider range of women and still allow breathability.
Three colours were successfully mixed to make the skirt. The skirt has a high waist that defines the wearer’s waistline. From the rear view, the burnt umber fabric flows from the waist in an A-line structure and stops just below the knees. The white fabric is hemmed at that region, and extends to the ground, forming a little trail at the foot. This was a colour choice because the white material is inevitably going to pick up dirt. It makes this piece high-maintenance, leaving potential buyers to second-guess making a purchase. The use of the burnt-ember or black fabric at the end would have been a more favourable style option.
The skirt has a different design in the front view. A complex, patterned design is implemented at the front, revealing the wearer’s thighs. The three fabrics are intertwined to create a small mat design which engages onlookers. The tails of the fabric extend and flow to the ground. A shorter extension of the material would have been a more desirable option to allow easy movement of the legs. This piece would be effectively marketed on a runway show or event.
On to the next outfit.
This dress deserves a standing ovation. It is a piece crafted to turn heads and steal the attention of admirers. The fabrics used are quality grey and black cotton textiles. They are of great quality, made from premium materials that are soft on the skin and long-lasting. The surface of the grey fabric has a shiny look and also a floral pattern that adds detail to this piece. The plain black material was used to make a waist belt, with an additional design at the edges. It is the perfect blend of style for this luxurious piece.
This dress is a silencer. Its simplicity speaks many words. It has a round neckline with no sleeves, making it most suitable for warm weather conditions. The left side of the dress has a bow extension design that stops below the elbow. This bow style also serves as a source of covering for shy women.
A black waist belt gives the dress a slim fit at the bust region. However, the fabric flows freely from under the bust to a midi-length, thus giving it a maxi look. At the anterior region of the gown, two bows are crafted at the hip region from the black material. Also, at the front, a bow is positioned at the knee level.
The bow design is an innovative style; however, it is unnecessary for corporate events. The black fabric could have been used to form another design, perhaps a sleeve covering at both sides. The dress is phenomenal regardless. It can be styled with simple accessories and a corporate coat to hide the bow designs during official events.
Let’s move to the final piece, shall we?
Well, well. What do we have here?
This red, dazzling gown is uniquely sewn specifically for special occasions. It is a piece that should be displayed in high-end boutiques and at fashion runway events. The two bright red fabrics are of premium quality. The thick cotton textile is soft on the skin and most suitable for summer. It easily hides dirt and sweat marks. The red net material has aesthetically pleasing patterns that engage admirers. It is amazing to behold the overall concept of this piece. However, it has some features that might discourage potential customers.
This piece comprises two gowns, an inner and outer dress. The inner dress is made from both fabrics. It has a choker neckline that adds a built-in accessory look. The neck cut looks rigid and would be unfavourable for women with thicker necks. It also limits the wearer’s potential to accessorise with any preferred neckpiece. The inner dress takes an interesting shift in design at the neckline hem. A red net fabric is joined to the choker neck to form knuckle-length sleeves. These sleeves make this dress high-maintenance because they can easily pick up dirt. The delicate nature of the net also increases the risks of tears. A wrist-length sleeve would have been a better option that still serves its aesthetic function.
The outer gown is made from red cotton material. It has a V-neckline and loose sleeves that stop just before the elbow. This style appeals most to women with thick arms. But it also complements slimmer ladies. The short sleeves create a balanced structure with the extended inner sleeves. A sleeveless design would have been more alluring for this style. Picture it-the inner sleeves would have been exposed if the outer gown had no sleeves at all. Nonetheless, this style is still good to go for a runway show.
A thick waistbelt forms a bow design at the back, giving the dress a firm fit at the upper bust. The red cotton fabric flows from the waist and forms a mid-thigh ball gown. The red net fabric of the inner gown is revealed underneath, falling freely to the wearer’s feet. This design is a creative style that creates contrast with the outer gown. It also modestly flaunts the wearer’s legs. This piece is a beauty to behold and is best paired with heels.
There you have it, Giveno’s 2024 collection.
Each piece was creative and expressive. Every design is aimed at the brand’s vision of making women’s clothes that turn heads. What makes Giveno unique from other brands is that they embrace sustainable practices in their production processes. That strategy alone serves as a major selling point for environmentally friendly customers. Kudos to Giveno!
