As part of efforts to embrace global workplace incident prevention strategies, the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON) and the Safety Management Consulting Firm (Marana Global Services Ltd) adopted recommended safety practices in the Holistic Safe Workplace and Incident Prevention Manual developed by Health and Safety Expert – Emmanuel Adebanjo.

The adoption of the Holistic Safe Workplace and Incident Prevention Manual followed a rigorous review of the document by ISPON’s Technical and Research Committee and a successful pilot testing of the recommended best practices among organizations across public and private sectors.

As the only body recognized by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to regulate the practice of safety profession in Nigeria, ISPON said its adoption was a clear commitment of efforts to entrench global industry practices in safety management to prevent workplace incidents and injuries in Nigeria.

ISPON said the recommended safety practices in the document are organic in nature and one of a kind, because it has not been developed nor implemented by any other industry experts. Thus, ISPON urged all organizations operating within the public and private sector to adopt and implement the recommended safety practices in the document.

ISPON encouraged organizations to follow the path of Marana Global Services Ltd by adopting the manual, implementing the recommended practices in the document, and providing feedback on the effectiveness of the manual. ISPON urged other organizations to adopt the manual to avoid lagging behind in global safety management practices.
