Lagos Government Commended for Security Interventions

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been commended for rising up to the security challenge of residents in the state.

This is as Sanwo-Olu gave approval for the mounting of security gate at the main entrance of Somide Odujinrin Avenue, under Omole Phase II Community Development Association in Lagos.

The Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Transportation and the Lagos State Physical Permit Authority, LASPPPA signed the  approval of the  gate which will be jointly managed by members of the benefiting communities.

The residents expressed that  the intervention would to a great extent  reduce their vulnerability to hoodlums attack  that has been interfering with the peace of the society.

Speaking, one of the residents,  Chief Olawale Osun stated that the move would ensure a more coordinated inventory of peoples’ movement in and out of the community.

He said, ” We are happy that our request of five years has been finally granted. We have had several cases of burglary, theft  and attempted rape .we hope to see a significant fall in crime rate in the community. We are grateful to the government.”

On her part, Mrs Ololade Adefulu, a retired teacher who is also a resident of the community recounted her  numerous ordeals with hoodlums including a vandalisation of her car and that of her neighbours.

” I am glad of this latest development. I believe that the gate will significantly increase monitoring in this area and reduce  nefarious activities”

Chairman of the Omole Phase II CDA, Mr. Moshood Shehu said that the move was long overdue.

“We want to sincerely appreciate the state Government for thoroughly investigating the need to install the gate and for granting us the approval having satisfied all necessary requirements” Shehu said.

He also urged residents and other stakeholders to extend total support to the state government as plans were being consummated to implement the project.
