From Trainee to Trainer: Rejoice Orjiene’s Journey of Empowering Nigeria Through Digital Skills

When Digify Africa trained Rejoice Orjiene in a Facebook-sponsored program, she had no idea it
would spark a movement in her career, one that would impact thousands of people. Today, she’s not just a digital skills trainer; she’s a mentor, community builder, and bridge between opportunity and ambition. Giving Back What Was Given, she said; I got trained for free, and that shaped everything,
“It only felt right to give back what I had received.” According to her, That inspiration became a commitment.

From that point, Rejoice began volunteering her time to teach content marketing, SEO, and career readiness to young Nigerians. She worked with organisations like Hapticsng Nigeria and DigifyAfrica and has since trained over 2,000 individuals, offering not just instruction but mentorship — a hand to hold until
they reached the finish line. The Measurable Impacts are Jobs, Internships, Freelancing. Rejoice’s teaching isn’t just theoretical. It changes lives. According to her, Some of my trainees got full-time jobs. Others went straight into freelancing. A few landed tech internships right after our sessions. Her impact was especially felt during the celebration of Pastor E.A. Adeboye’s birthday, where she was invited to teach SEO to a large cohort. Knowing the complexity of the topic, Rejoice innovated by dividing the group into smaller units to encourage collaboration and peer learning and It worked. They supported each other, shared resources, and made the knowledge stick.

She speaks about Overcoming the Realities of Infrastructure, of course, teaching in Nigeria isn’t without hurdles. Network issues and electricity are major challenges, especially during online classes,
” she says. But Rejoice finds ways around them, switching formats, offering asynchronous lessons, and
keeping her groups connected via WhatsApp, Telegram, and shared resources. Talking about Staying Relevant in a Fast-Changing World, she said; To maintain quality and relevance, Rejoice continually invests in herself. “I’m always taking courses — on Coursera, Udemy, and following tech updates from platforms like Social Media Today,” she says. Lately, I’ have been focusing on AI and product development because that’s where
the world is headed.

She recently transitioned into product management, a move that deepens her technical insight and strengthens her ability to teach strategy, product thinking, and innovation alongside digital skills.
