The medical laboratory Sciences Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) has inducted 21 pioneer graduates of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology,( ESUTH).

Speaking during the Induction ceremony at the ESUTH College of Medicine Auditorium on Friday, Registrar, and the chief executive officer of MLSCN, Dr. Tosan Erhabor, said the induction was the first to be conducted by the council in the institution.

He said that by being members of the council, the students must uphold the policies and guiding principles of the professional body and be good ambassadors of both the council and the institution that trained them.

“You must rise up and take your place in the scheme of things as you go out, “he said. You must also network with like-minded institutions and strive for success in all you undertake to do”.

In his address, Provost ESUTH College of Medicine, Prof Frank Ezugwu, said the students must remember that their induction is just the beginning of a lifelong journey, hence they must be conscious of and desirous of further academic self-development.

“Education does not end at graduation, “he said. “The most successful graduates will be those equipped to build on the foundation of scientific knowledge gained through course work in School”.

He noted that the university has so far graduated 20 sets of medical doctors, three sets of anatomy graduates and a set of postgraduates in anatomy.

On his part, acting vice-chancellor of the university, Prof Charlse Eze, said the students had been graduated from the institution in the 2018/2018 academic session but had to wait to be inducted by the professional body.

He thanked the parents of the inductees for investing in the future of their children, noting that their efforts will not be in vain as the institution had done its best in educating the students.

He advised the students to always remember that they are ambassadors of the university wherever they go and try to represent the quality for which the institution is known.

“You must also be focused on your pursuits as that is the only way to achieve success,” he said.

The highpoint of the event was the award of excellence for outstanding academic performance to Momoh Ummulkahr Inocy as the best graduating student for the 2018/2019 academic session of the department of Medical Laboratory Science.
