Niger To Rehabilitate 72-Year- Old Missionary Hospital, Other with N2.3 billion

A 72-year old TunganMagajiya Missionary Hospital (TMMH) and the Suleja General Hospital (SGH) have been slated for renovation by the Niger State Government at over N2.3 billion.

The TMMH in the Rijau Local Government Area of the state was established some 72 years ago by the missionaries but was allowed to become dilapidated.

Similarly, the SGH has not witnessed any serious intervention in the last couple of years.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health and Hospital Services, Dr. Mohammed Gana, told newsmen at the end of the state executive council meeting that contract for the TMMH’s rehabilitation has been awarded to be carried out in three phases through contract financing at N800 million.

According to him, the rehabilitation works would include the provision of equipment and other facilities to make it serve the people better.

Gana disclosed that the SGH would be rehabilitated at the cost of N1.5 billion.

He disclosed that the expansion work on the Minna General Hospital, which was started about four months ago is nearing completion and would be handed over to management consultants for proper administration.

He further said that the dialysis equipment at the IBB Specialist Hospital in Minna would be made functional in the next one week.
