Ogun Begins Palliative Work on Sango-Ijoko-Alagbole Akute Road

Determined to relieve residents of pains encountered on daily basis, the Ogun State Government has begun palliative work on the Sango-Ijoko-Alagbole Akute road.

The construction of the road, which is expected to gulp N38 billion, was awarded by the immediate-past administration in the state led by Governor Ibikunle Amosun.

The road, which was designed to be a six lane project, however, took off only with the demolition of many buildings and construction of bridges in many spots.

The 37-km road project was thereafter abandoned, a situation which had been giving residents and motorists pain while navigating the road.

However, speaking with journalists in Abeokuta yesterday, the state Commissioner for Works, Mr. Ade Akinsanya, said the state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, had directed the commencement of palliative works on the road to alleviate the suffering of the residents.

According to him, the Abiodun’s administration had been able to modify the design of the road in order to minimize additional demolition of buildings in the area.

Akinsanya said: “This project has been declared a top priority by the governor because he is deeply concerned about the plight of the people living in the areas.

“Already, we have perfected agreement with the Lagos State Government with regard to the border towns. We urge the people of the area to bear with us as the work gets underway. The contractors have started work in Alagbole.”
