Police Arrest Suspected Assailants of The Sun Correspondent, Ghana Gang Member

The Taraba State Police Command has arrested two persons suspected to have attacked the Taraba State Correspondent of The Sun newspaper, Mr. Sylvanus Viashima.
In the same vein, the Command, in a press release signed by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Dave Aderemi said it has arrested one Terkinbi Daniel a.k.a. Mopol who is a member of the notorious Ghana criminal gang.
Viashima was attacked by a 3 hoodlums on Thursday, 28th of December along FGGC road in Jalingo at about 10.30 am who inflicted life threatening injuries on him with a knife and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo where Doctors battled to save his life.
The Police boss, in the release stated that the suspects were arrested same Thursday night after carrying out another attack at a popular bar in the town where they inflicted injuries on one Linda Habila and Aliyu Yusuf.
He revealed that a patrol team attached to Jalingo Division Police station effected the arrest of the two suspects whose names are still being shrouded in secrecy in order not to jeopardise investigations.
Aderemi stated that Mopol was arrested at his hideout in Jalingo on December 13 based on an intelligence report.
He further revealed that Mopol had earlier appeared in Benue and indicated interest in laying down his weapons but relocated thereafter to Taraba where he has carried out series of criminal activities.
According to the CP, Mopol confessed to being a member of the notorious Ghana gang as well as his involvement in several kidnappings and armed robbery in Taraba and Benue states.
Similarly, the Command also arrested the principal suspect and 7 others who attacked and shot a 25-year-old palm wine tapper, Kpanti Yaro at Bali local government area.
Items recovered from the suspects who are to be arraigned in court include a single barrel gun, three quivers containing arrows and two cutlasses.
