NCC Strengthens Police Intelligence Gathering with Computers

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) yesterday strengthened the intelligence and information gathering unit of the Nigeria Police Force in Oyo State with computer laptops, printers and other accessories.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Hafsat Lawal of the Department of Legal and Regulatory Services, said the donation to the State police command headquarters at Eleyele was informed by the recent request made by the Inspector General of Police for the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders to support the police with equipments capable of enhancing their jobs.

Lawal who Heads Disputes and Litigation unit of the NCC, said the commission as a responsive and responsible federal government agency considered the donation of laptops as apt, because of its importance in enhancing modern effective policing.

She was of the opinion that with such donation,  the police would be able to spread its online and information technology unit as a whole in combating frauds and other vices in the state and country at large.

Responding, the state Commissioner of Police, Sam Dam Adegbuyi, expresses appreciation of the command to the telecoms industry regulator for the donation, assuring that the gesture would further strengthen the command in combating criminal activities especially in this era of social media frauds and other online criminal activities.

Adegbuyi, who described the information technology unit as one of the engine rooms of the force, assured the NCC that the command would make the best use of the gadgets.
