LCAN, ABCCCP Sign Landmark MoU, Usher in New Era in African Coaching

Two of Africa’s leading professional coaching bodies, the Life Coaches Association of Nigeria (LCAN) and the African Board of Consultants, Coaches, and Coaching Psychologists (ABCCCP), have announced a landmark partnership to propel the coaching profession across the continent of Africa.

This strategic alliance, according to their leaders, is poised to redefine standards, ethics, and professional development for coaches throughout Africa, setting the stage for a robust advancement of the industry.

This partnership, they said, would propel the African coaching industry to new heights, adding that: “The alliance leverages LCAN’s expertise in creating standardized coaching, accreditation, and networking platforms, as well as ABCCCP’s focus on ensuring the highest levels of ethics and excellence within the profession.”

Dr. Lanre Olusola, LCAN Board of Trustees (BoT) chairman said: “This alliance represents a significant step forward for our continent. By combining our strengths, we aim to create a robust framework that elevates the standards and ethics of coaching and consulting practices across Africa.”

He added that LCAN and ABCCCP are united by a shared vision and a common goal-to elevate the standards and ethics of coaching and consulting practices across Africa. Formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the alliance is a commitment to ongoing professional development, global collaborations, and participation in international research and best practices.

According to ABCCCP’s President, Dr. Mongezi C. Makhalima, “South Africa and Nigeria are two of the largest economies in Africa, making this collaboration a natural fit. The ABCCCP-LCAN partnership opens doors for practitioners across the continent, offering access to valuable resources and ensuring leaders in all spheres receive the highest quality coaching and consulting support.”

In her remark, The President of LCAN, Omawumi Ogbe, said: “This collaboration ensures that African coaches not only uphold the highest global standards but are empowered to support individuals, businesses, and communities on their growth journeys. The impact of this partnership is not just on the coaching profession, but on the transformation of individuals and communities across the continent.”

It is recalled that the Africa Board for Coaching, Consulting and Coaching Psychology (ABCCCP) was founded in 2012 by passionate professionals dedicated to upholding the highest standards in coaching and consulting across Africa. ABCCCP serves buyers of coaching and consulting services, ensuring that accredited practitioners possess the expertise, ethics, and commitment to deliver exceptional value.

Also, the Life Coaches Association of Nigeria (LCAN) is the Nigeria’s leading professional body dedicated to elevating the art and science of coaching. LCAN believes coaching is a catalyst for personal and professional transformation, empowering individuals to unlock their full potential. It champions structure, excellence, and ethical standards, providing credibility and a supportive network for coaches across Nigeria.
