Nigerian international, Victor Boniface and Bayer Leverkusen will make history today by winning their first-ever Bundesliga title?

Bayer Leverkusen have never won the biggest prize in German football since they were founded 120 years ago.

Today, both closest rivals Bayern Munich (2-0 vs Cologne) and VfB Stuttgart (3-0 vs Eintracht Frankfurt) won their respective games.

They now both have 63 points from 29 matches, meaning Bayer Leverkusen only have to beat Werder Bremen at home this Sunday to be champions of Germany.

Leverkusen go into Sunday’s game unbeaten in 43 matches.

They are also in serious reckoning for the German Cup, where they will battle Kaiserlautern in the final next month, and the UEFA Europa League, where they won the home leg of the quarterfinal against West Ham.

Coach Xabi Alonso said it will be massive to win their first-ever Bundesliga crown right in front of their fans.

“Obviously, we want to win on Sunday. Celebrating a title at home with the supporters would be beautiful,” he said.

 “The team are focused and diligent.“I have confidence and if we do this, we will have something to celebrate. But there are 90 minutes to play to get this victory.”

Kick-off will be at a packed Bay Arena is 3.30pm in Nigeria.
