Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representative, Rt. Hon. Chibudom Nwuche, has urged key political stakeholders in Rivers State to support the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike, as he continues to pilot his national assignment in Abuja.

The former federal lawmaker made the call when he  hosted key political stakeholders in Ekpeye kingdom including Chairman of Ahoada East Local Government Area of the state, Mr. Ben Eke.

Receiving the political leaders at his hometown in Ochigba Community, Ahoada-East, Nwuche charged the politicians in the state to be consistent in their interest, especially in supporting the former governor to attract federal presence in the state.

Nwuche also urged the people of Ekpeye ethnic nationality to stand by their son-in-law, Wike, whom he said has done so much for the people, and that they should not forget the days of his good relationship with the people of the area.

He also maintained that Wike is an in-law of the Ekpeye people, saying that “his wife Hon Justice Suzette Eberechi Wike, is our daughter, and that we owe him unalloyed commitment and support.”

“Among the landmark projects Wike accomplished in Ekpeye land include the reconstruction and dualisation of the Ahoada/ Omoku road by Julius Berger; the construction of the Ozochi road with bridges by Setraco; the construction of the Ogbo/Ihugbogo and Odiemudie roads by Interglobal, and  the ongoing reconstruction of the Ahoada Internal roads, the Ekpena road, the Ochigba road; the location of a campus of Rivers State University at Ahoada, Odioku internal roads, reconstruction  and expansion of county high school etc, amongst several other projects.”

Nwuche further reiterated that Wike believes strongly in the overall  development of Rivers and the empowerment of the people, stressing that the evidence is that “he completed all projects inherited from the Amaechi Government since they are for the development of Rivers state.”

He said that the Ochigba/ Ikata road was awarded by the Amaechi Government but abandoned, and Wike completed and inaugurated  it not minding that he (Nwuche) was at that time in the opposing party on account of his grievances stemming from his senatorial primaries under the  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“He even invited the late Ghali Naaba as the guest of honour to flag off the road, supported by Hon Chibudom Nwuche.”

Speaking further, Nwuche expressed happiness at the level of support given to the Minister of the FCT by Rivers people. He  therefore, encouraged the people of Ekpeye ethnic nationality to continue to remain steadfast in their trust on Wike.

He described Wike as someone who keeps to his commitment to the people and is committed to the development of Ekpeyeland and Rivers State in general.

Nwuche further commended the chairman of the LGA, Eke for the good job he was doing in keeping the PDP united and strong in the area.

Speaking, the Chairman of Ahoada East Council,  Eke, commended Nwuche for the warm reception, and described him as a father and the pride of Ekpeye people.

Eke also pledged their support and loyalty to the FCT Minister. He told Nwuche to assure the FCT Minister, Wike, to be confident about Ahoada East, stressing that the people have resolved to stand by him.

He briefed Nwuche that “the three elected officers of Ahoada-East LGA: Solomon Bob, member representing Abual-Odual/Ahoada-East Federal Constituency, Dame Tony-Williams Uwuma, member representing Ahoada East Constituency I in Rivers State House of Assembly and myself are strongly behind Wike and will never waiver.”

The council boss introduced Mr Charles Luke, Chairman PDP Caretaker Committee, Ahoada East LGA, and other Exco members present to the Rivers elder statesman.
