Police Arrest Three  for  Alleged  Murder of  Tricycle Owners Leader  in Kwara

Police rescue security man kidnapped alongside UNTH director

Operatives of the Kwara State Police Command have arrested  three suspects for alleged culpable homicide in Ilorin, the state capital.

The police command said that, the victim  was the Chairman of Tricycle  Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (TOAN), Mr. Musibawu Aliu and was earlier declared missing last Friday before the dismembered corpse of the deceased was discovered in an uncompleted building in Ilorin on Tuesday.

In another development, operatives of the Enugu State Police Command said they  have rescued the security man who was kidnapped alongside a director at  the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku Ozalla in Enugu state.

The suspects arrested in Ilorin  are Ibrahim Abdullahi of Medina area, Ismaila Ajirerin, (38) of Akata compound, Alore,  and Adeola Adeosun, (40) of Omo compound, Eruda, all residents of Ilorin the state capital.

A statement issued in Ilorin yesterday signed by the police Command’s Public Relations Officer(PPRO) DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, said: “The case was reported on March 10, 2024, at about 10:00hrs.

“Mr Olarenwaju Saliman of Alore area, Ilorin, reported a disturbing incident involving his brother Mr Musibau Aliu at ‘G’ Division, Oloje area of Ilorin metropolis.

“According to Mr. Saliman, his brother left home on March 8th, 2024, at around 17:00hrs, with his tricycle for commercial purposes and has since not returned home.

“Despite exhaustive efforts to trace him, including repeated calls to his phone number which were unanswered, Mr Aliu remained missing”.

The statement added: “On March 10, 2024, at about 13:30hrs, the command received information regarding the discovery of a headless corpse in an uncompleted building along Okolowo Expressway, by Daru-Salam Area.

“Upon arrival at the scene, a decomposing male corpse was found with its head, part of the buttocks, and both wrists severed.

 “It was later confirmed by Mr. Saliman that the deceased was indeed his missing brother, Mr. Musibau Aliu.

“The deceased was identified as the Chairman of the Tricycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (TOAN), Idiose Alore.”

Ejire said the state police command, while sympathising with the family of Mr. Musibau Aliu during this period of grief, remained committed to exhaustively pursuing the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

Meanwhile,  the Police in have  rescued the security man who was kidnapped alongside a director at  the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku Ozalla in Enugu state.

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Tuesday, attacked the UNTH, abducting a female director and a security officer in the facility.

Staff members of the hospital said that the director, identified as Ngozi Mbah, was followed to the premises of the hospital at about .009 a.m by the gunmen who shot at her SUV vehicle.

They lamented that despite being a recognised institution, security remains a major concern around the facility.

The Enugu State Police Command, in a statement yesterday  by the police spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, said that they have rescued the security man.

Ndukwe said that the man was rescued at Ishi-Ozalla in the same local government area at about 11.45 p.m. on the same date of the incident, following the intense operations immediately launched to rescue the victims and apprehend the assailants.

He said that the Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, has also ordered the Police operatives and the complementary teams from the Neighborhood Watch Group, Forest Guards and Local Vigilance Group  to ensure that everything is done to rescue the female nurse and arrest the hoodlums.

“Meanwhile, members of the public, particularly residents of the Ituku-Ozalla community and environs, have been enjoined to report any suspected individuals found within their residential areas or in the forest, by calling 08099854883 or emailing infoenugupolice@gmail.com,” he said.
