Herbert Wigwe: My family, and I celebrate his indelible legacy- Wale Tinubu

The Group Chief Executive, Oando Plc; Adewale Tinubu, CON, has joined millions of Nigerians to bid farewell to the late Group CEO of Access Corporation, Mr. Herbert Wigwe.

In his heartfelt statement in his social media handles, he described the late banker as a visionary whose transformative leadership and unparalleled contributions to finance and banking goes beyond Nigeria.

‘’ In bidding farewell to Dr. Herbert Wigwe CFR, the visionary Group CEO of Access Corporation, my family, and I celebrate his indelible legacy. We honour his transformative leadership and unparalleled contributions to the finance, banking, and business community in Nigeria and beyond.

We celebrate his humanity and kindness evident in the many lives he touched. We also express our gratitude for his love and friendship.

We express our condolences to his family and loved ones, praying that his legacy continues to inspire and guide us’’ He stated in the statement.

The late Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, his wife, and his son were laid to rest today, exactly after a month of his demise, in a private interment following the funeral church service.

Their burial followed a week-long funeral rites to celebrate the life of the late Wigwe.

The funeral service for the esteemed banker and philanthropist was attended by friends, associates, and well-wishers from both local and international communities, gathered to pay their final respects.

Wigwe died on 9 February 2024 after the helicopter crash in Nipton, California alongside his wife Doreen Chizoba Wigwe, his son Chizi Wigwe and former Nigeria Exchange Group Plc Chairman Abimbola Ogunbanjo. The passengers were on their way to attend the National Football League Champions game’s Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas.
