The acting Vice Chancellor of Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State, Prof. Omolola Oladunni, and the Registrar, Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar have pleaded with nurses to stay and practice with other healthcare workers to provide adequate healthcare services in the country.

They made the call during the induction of 194 Nurses and 13 Engineers, who graduated during the 2022/2023 academic sessions, to the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria and Nigeria Society of Engineers, respectively.

The induction ceremony, which was respectively the 4th and 2nd in the history of the institution’s College of Nursing Sciences and Engineering and Technology, was held at Prof. Abubakar Adamu Rasheed Auditorium of the institution.

Specifically, Prof. Oladunni opined that despite the challenges being faced, there were many opportunities awaiting them in the country and the need for “Japa” may not be necessary.

While appreciating the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council; Dr. Bode Ayorinde for his commitment and investment in the two Colleges and the University in General, explained that the institution started with two colleges (CONAS and COSMAS) when it was opened on April 2, 2008 and the council added some other colleges in which the College of Engineering and Technology was among.

“Academic activities started in the college in 2017 and at present, the college has five departments with six programmes. All the six programmes have been accredited by NUC and three of these courses have also been accredited by COREN: Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering.

“It is worthy to note that through the benevolent act of the Governing Council, the offer of 50% tuition scholarship, which has now been reviewed to 65%, is offered to both UTME and Direct Entry students in the College of Engineering and Technology. This scholarship is for the entire duration of study in the University.
