Shallipopi Shares His 2023 Story, His Journey to  Lagos Boy

A fropop artist Shallipopi has been making a lot of moves lately as his sounds continue to rule the airwaves. He recently gave an insight into his life and his days of humble beginnings in a viral podcast. Shallipopi noted during the interview that earlier this year, before his big break, he still got booked for just N50k.

The fast-rising Afrobeats star Crown Uzama, aka Shallipopi, has since set tongues wagging with these revelations about his music career and humble beginnings.  Shallipopi revealed that he came to Lagos for the first time in early 2023. 

When asked how he manages expectations from family members, the ‘Obapluto’ singer said: “I don’t care o, whenever they ask I give them.”

The Benin-born singer explained why he calls the income made from music a money ritual. He noted that he never knew there was so much money in music before going into it. Shallipopi, who recently floated his own record label, revealed that he boarded an airplane for the first time in 2023, and he nearly threw up while onboard.

However, Shalli avoided speaking about his issues with Pa Edo Monday who assisted his viral song, Obapluto. The artiste recently rose to prominence in Nigeria due to his innovative style.

 Shallipopi credited his colleague, Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, for inspiring him and other young artists from Edo State to believe in their talents.
