Lawan Facilitates Health Centre, Hostel To Gashua Varsity, Inspects Projects

The President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan yesterday expressed satisfaction over the ongoing projects he facilitated in the Yobe North Senatorial District.

The projects, according to a statement by his media aide, Ezrel Tabiowo, included the construction of a Community Centre; 2000 capacity hostel and a health centre for the use of the students of the Federal University Gashua.

The statement explained that the projects are facilitated by Lawan who is the lawmaker representing the Yobe North Senatorial District in the National Assembly. 

Lawan, the statement added, was taken on the tour of the projects by the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Gashua, Professor Maimuna Waziri and the Acting Director of Works and Fiscal Planning, Haruna Gashua. 

It added that the Vice Chancellor told Lawan that the Community Centre, which has a 2,500 sitting capacity, was currently in the second phase of construction.

The former Senate President, while inspecting the construction of a 2,000 capacity student hostel and clinic at the FUG, expressed satisfaction with the level and quality of work.

He, however, urged the contractor to hasten up on the completion of both projects to allow students access to the facilities in good time. 

Lawan said, “The procurement process for the construction of the student hostel for both male and female is currently ongoing and captured in the 2023 Appropriation Act.”
