Kwara State Governor, Abdulrasaq Abdulrahaman, has commended his Cross River State counterpart, Senator Bassey Otu, for appointing Rasheed Olanrewaju as his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity.

Abdulrahman, who describes Olanrewaju as his son, said he viewed his appointment by Otu as a way to strengthen the bond of national unity and integration.

He said the appointment of the Kwara State indigene and a Muslim into such a sensitive office portrays Governor Otu as a true and detribalised Nigerian.

The Kwara State governor, who spoke through a letter signed by his deputy,

Chief Kayode Alabi, said: “We received with great joy and sense of excitement the news of the appointment of Mr. Rasheed Olanrewaju, our dear son and a distinguished Kwaran with excellent character, as a Special Assistant on Media and Publicity in your government.

“This gesture is heartily acknowledged and well appreciated, and this has further demonstrated Your Excellency’s profound sense of national unity and integration. You are indeed a true and detribalised Nigerian.

“On behalf of the government and people of Kwara State, we sincerely express our profound gratitude to Your Excellency for this rare opportunity, and it is our prayers that the Almighty God will enrich you with wisdom to take Cross River State to greater heights.”

Governor Abdulrahaman, who congratulated Otu on his inauguration as the governor of Cross River State, said Olanrewaju’s wealth of experience of about two decades will help him in the new assignment.

Olanrewaju, until his appointment, was the senior correspondent of the Africa Independent Television (AIT) in Cross River State and the chairman/head of Press Corps in Government House, Calabar.
