HP Releases Germicide Resistant Computer

American multi-national ICT company, Hewlett Packard (HP), has launched a new set of computers to attend to the safety and hygiene needs of health workers.
The latest which include EliteOne 800 Healthcare Edition All-in-One desktop, 27-inch Healthcare Edition Clinical Review Display, and the EliteBook 840 Healthcare Edition notebook are said to be resistant to intense cleaning materials like germicide.

Explaining the technology further, the company stated, “The laptop lets you disable the keyboard and touchscreen while cleaning, so that nothing is accidentally inputted. All the three products are built to withstand deterioration from being cleaned with germicidal wipes, which may help reduce the spread of healthcare-related infections.
“We have also included a few other features specifically meant to help hospital workers. The Notebook’s touchpad recognises touch from people wearing surgical gloves. The notebook, desktop, and display also have RFID readers so that workers can sign in by tapping their work badges on the touchpad. The notebook also has a fingerprint reader.

“In addition, the brand has security measures in place to address the risk of healthcare records being stolen. The HP EliteBook has a physically isolated security controller, which will supposedly make it more difficult for hackers to access. It also has a privacy screen so that onlookers can’t read the screen from the side.”
The Elitebook is expected to hit market in May while the display and desktop are scheduled for June.
