The former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, has thanked the federal government for the befitting burial accorded the Second Republic Vice President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme.
Obi who accompanied Ekwueme’s remains from London last week said he was satisfied that Ekwueme sacrifices for Nigerian and his exemplary service were rewarded by the naming of a Federal University after him.
He encouraged other arms of government to also honour Ekwueme, saying that “no honour is too much for a life well-spent.â€
Obi said beyond a befitting burial, that what should occupy the attention of Nigerians was how to imbibe those virtues Ekwueme lived and died for, namely, incorruptibility, truthfulness, sincerity, hard work and diligence.
Concluding, Obi thanked Anambra State Governor, Governors of the South-east and everybody who contributed towards giving Ekwueme a deserved burial.
