The International Friendship League, Lagos chapter, held an evening of variety recently at the University of Lagos, Akoka.

The IFL is a non-denominational fellowship of highly placed persons in the private and public sectors of the Nigerian economy.

The league serves primarily as a platform for networking and interaction among members, with a view to assisting them to grow spiritually and live consistent and victorious Christian lives; topical issues that promote family, business, professional and ministerial successes are also regular features of its programmes.

In his welcome address at the recent evening of variety, the Chairman of the Day, Rear Admiral Stanford Enoch, spoke about the importance of thanksgiving. “As we gather this evening, we have all cause to praise God like Paul the apostle, God who have us victory and caused us to triumph physically, spiritually and materially.

“Also, as we come together, let’s remember that God is saying that the glory of the latter shall be greater than the former.”

Speaking on the theme of the evening ‘Soaring on Eagle’s Wings’, the Rear Admiral noted that “we need to wait upon the Lord to soar.”
Other features of the evening included music ministrations, intercessory prayers, testimonies and a minister’s exhortation.

Some distinguished personalities present at the evening were, the present Head of Department, History and Strategic Studies, University of Lagos, Professor R.T. Akinyele, another professor, Ayodeji Olukoji, a Medical Doctor, Dr. Pastor Dare, Pastor Olufemi Alabi and Pastor Bayo Opeyemi.

Meanwhile, IFL Lagos’ Coordinator, Pastor Adebayo Oyeyemi, noted that IFL is the vision of the General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church, William Kumuyi.

“It is an arm established to take care of those people that ordinarily would not be reached by the church,” he said. “Jesus Christ died for the whole world, and the man of God packaged this ministry (IFL) to reach all sinners through which they might be saved.
“All this outreach is doing is to connect men to God, and once they are connected to God, all other questions will be taken care of.”
