EFCC NOT AFTER OLU OKEOWO

Sir Olu Okeowo, Chairman of Gibraltar Property, has been around for some time doing what he knows how to do best. By all standards, his is a success story. With numerous estates and golf courses scattered around the world there is no gainsaying the fact that he is a big player in the property and real estate sector.

The shrewd businessman is unarguably one of the best property merchants of his time.  He is known for a number of imposing properties scattered around the globe .

Very determined, the dark-skinned businessman has been globe-trotting lately to network with high-profile personalities, while making efforts to expand his business empire. He has hosted two African presidents privately in his palace in the last two months.

While he continues to dazzle his competitors and delight his admirers, he works so hard and little wonder he also takes time to spoil himself with the good things of life.

But just like any successful man, people would like to bring you down, some traducers have been peddling rumours about the businessman over his acquisitions. It was alleged that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commision, EFCC, seized  his numerous cars over some government contracts, but a source revealed that the story is nothing but a lie. The man does not do government contracts.

It was gathered that this was the handiwork of his detractors that would want to bring him down.

The doyen of philanthropy  has been  a renowned international property merchant for over three decades and has not secured a contract from any branch of government.

”How people can go to any length to destroy others baffles one.  I don’t think the billionaire needs   contracts from government or their agencies to live or survive.   “That one builds the best of home and have in the garage the best of cars that money can afford, does not translate that such a person, who enjoys the best of life is a thief nor a government contractor,’’ a source said.

Speaking further the source said, “A lie was also conjured by some undesirable elements that he owed a bank N5 billion loan, all these were just lies to bring the man down as he does not even have any overdraft services from any bank, let alone, a loan offer. But he stands unshaken like the rock of Gibraltar. So naysayers and haters please go to bed and sleep.’’

Over the last few years, Sir Olu Okeowo, has donated a lot to churches and hospitals and humanity in general.

Weeks back, we stumbled on some philanthropic gestures by this humble and easy going businessman who plays big in global real estate and hospitality business.

Though Okeowo, does not like to talk about his philanthropic activities or make a noise about it, it was gathered that Sir Olu Okeowo Physiotherapy Centre, inside Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, is about to be completed.

The building is 100 per cent completed, Fittings are being fixed, and replicas are being designed.

We discovered that the Centre is the largest private donation to LUTH to date.  It is a multi-complex made up of lecture rooms, theatres for operations, equipment rooms and offices for medical doctors and nurses.

As far as Okeowo is concerned, it’s all about philanthropy and giving. And he takes pleasure in doing that.
