The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has said at least 1,600 corps members will be deployed for the Wamako/Kware federal constituency by-election scheduled to hold October 28, 2017 in Sokoto State.

Speaking with newsmen in Sokoto Wednesday, the state Coordinator of NYSC, Mr. Musa Abubakar, who said the data of corps members would be transmitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), noted that the corps members are supposed to be non-partisan, as they are not from the state.

According to him, security personnel would be mobilised to the two local government areas to ensure the safety of the corps members taking part in the election and stressed the need for the corps members to conduct themselves in accordance with the rules set by INEC to ensure a free and credible election.

The NYSC boss disclosed that 95 per cent of the corps members posted to the state are engaged in teaching in schools, adding that the state Ministry of Education had conducted an induction course on teaching methodology for corps members posted to educational institutions in the state.

Abubakar stated that the NYSC management partnered with the State Environmental Protection Agency, which enabled 700 corps members to participate in the monthly environmental sanitation.
