The Tor Tiv, Prof. James Ayatse, has warned on the curse that will befall anybody who will divert relief material meant for flood victims.

Ayatse who said this yesterday when he visited the internally displaced persons (IDPs) camp located at the International Market in Makurdi, sternly warned officials of the State Emergency Relief Agency, SEMA against diverting the materials to homes of individuals or market places.

He also urged the management of the agency to distribute the materials to real victims of the flood.
“I advise SEMA to give the materials to real victims of the flood. Materials should not disappear to homes or market places. Violation of this instruction, God and gods of the land will be angry with such person or persons. The materials should also reach displaced persons in other local government areas affected by the flood,” Tor Tiv pleaded passionately.

He maintained that the dredging of the River Benue as well as construction of drainage systems remains the only permanent solutions to avert flooding in the state.

The paramount ruler lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for his quick intervention in providing succor for the victims and Governor Samuel Ortom for his dynamism in managing the incident.

He sympathised with the victims assuring them of the traditional council support to ensuring they enjoy comfortable stay in the camp.

The traditional council which consist of first class chiefs from across the state, donated over 120 bags of rice
