Jumia first introduced the Black Friday in Nigeria in 2015. In its 2015 Black Friday Jumia broke records by welcoming more than 2,3 million shoppers in 24 hours on its website and reached new heights with 140 000 orders placed. , This year despite the harsh economic conditions Jumia bet on the fact that having experienced such a challenging year, Nigerians will shop for products they need only if they can find it at the right price and product performance level.
To pull off 2016 Black Friday, Jumia partnered with several brands such as Infinix, Polystar, Binatone, InnJoo, HP, Casio, Intel, Zaron, and many local manufacturers of daily consumables such as Reckitts Honeywell, Dangote Flour, Procter and Gamble etc to source essential products and offer them at great prices
This year Jumia’s Black Friday was sequenced in a pattern that offered 75 000 products, arranged in a different category per day starting on the 14th of November. The pre-planned calendar, which spans 12 days, was released early to customers so everyone knew the day to look out for depending on their specific needs.
