Chikamnenye Onubogu Presents ‘Histories En Motion’, A Travel Storytelling Exhibition Igniting African Exploration
Oluchi Chibuzor
African Narrative Champion and travel storyteller Chikamnenye Onubogu is set to debut her first-ever public exhibition, Histories en Motion, from 27th to 29th May, 2025, 11am to 6pm daily, at the Je’losimi Art Center, Oshodi, Lagos.
This immersive showcase features photographs, audio stories, short videos, and augmented reality, all drawn from Chikamnenye’s research and storytelling led travel across Ghana, Ivory Coast, and Liberia. While Ghana marked the beginning of her journey, the heart of the exhibition lies in uncovering cultural ties, research opportunities, and shared heritage across borders.
The exhibition is a sequel to her participation in Move Africa a storytelling campaign supported by Africa No Filter, the African Union, and GIZ. As a grant recipient and selected storyteller, Chikamnenye used the opportunity to document West African histories and everyday life, reshaping the way Africans see each other.
“Move Africa, for me, meant stepping into a living classroom as a student and teacher choosing learning over assumptions, experiences over hearsay, and becoming a part of purposeful, intercontinental African travel.
“Entry is free and open to the public
Whether you’re passionate about stories, travel, tech, art, or simply looking for something fresh to do in Lagos, Histories en Motion is an invitation to see Africa, and ourselves, differently. Follow the journey on TikTok: @cheekawrites,” said Chikamnenye.
Through her work, Chikamnenye encourages a new generation to embrace “travel to learn” using exploration as a tool for education, cultural connection, and discovery of self and others across the continent.
In partnership with JUCE Africa and the Je’losimi Art Center, the exhibition is also an opportunity to engage Nigerian youth creatively and intentionally.
JUCE Africa works to expose young Africans to career opportunities beyond the conventional, from storytelling to AI, content creation, and more helping them envision futures that align with their talents and passions.
Je’losimi Art Center, located in Oshodi, is dedicated to nurturing in- and out-of-school youth through creative arts, social change programs, and capacity-building workshops. Hosting Histories en Motion furthers their goal of using the arts to develop leadership and life skills among Nigerian children and teens.
