9ijakids has empowered over 70,000 children in Africa on money management skills. This it did with the intention to catch them young, and especially guide children through making informed decision about their finances now and in the future.

Beneficiaries from 250 schools selected across the continent were exposed to hands-on training and demonstrations that broaden their perspectives and deepen their knowledge on finances.

In addition to putting participants through practical strategies for financial security, savings, earning and investing, relevant books were given out to deepen their understanding of money management while an early savings account was also opened for them.

Speaking on the initiative, Co-founder of 9ijakids, TIti Adewusi, reiterated the motive of the initiative to get children accustomed to good financial habits from an early age.

She added that the partnership with Kidpreneur and Access Bank on the project further enhanced the outcome of the initiative which plans to extend to other parts of the continent.

“Imagine having one million financially literate children in Nigeria, we will definitely be saying goodbye to poverty and inequality in the country. Realities and current economic situation suggest the need to impact even more children with financial literacy,” she said.

The highlight of the campaign was an online quiz competition that was packaged in a fun and interactive learning method such to stimulate children’s interest in financial education. Winners of the contest won over N1. 5 million in cash prize.
