Nigeria’s Economic Crisis: Olalekan Anjolaiya Calls for Accountability Amidst Price Hike, Insecurity

As Nigeria grapples with a deepening economic crisis, a prominent Lagos PDP chieftain, Olalekan Anjolaiya has raised his voice against the rising challenges.

With petrol prices soaring from 184 naira to an alarming 600 naira, reflecting a concerning 226.09 per cent increase, Olalekan voiced his concern. “Our people are suffering, and these price hikes are unacceptable.

“The government must be held accountable for the hardships it’s imposing on our citizens.”

In a passionate address, Olalekan emphasised the urgency of the situation, saying, “Our citizens are struggling to make ends meet, and it’s high time we address this crisis head-on.”

He further shared his dismay at the government’s apparent indifference to the plight of ordinary Nigerians.

“These price hikes are unacceptable,” he asserted, “and the government must be held accountable for the hardships it’s imposing on our citizens.”

Olalekan highlighted the grim economic realities, pointing out that the exchange rate now stands at 1,500 naira for 1 dollar compared to the former rate of 460 naira to a dollar.

Despite these harsh conditions, the minimum wage remains stagnant at 30,000 naira, exacerbating the financial struggles of the working class.

Nigeria, a nation with a rich history and a vibrant populace, now faces the specter of insecurity spreading beyond its traditional boundaries.

Reports show that insecurity has infiltrated cities like Abuja, Lagos, and more southwestern states, manifesting in kidnappings, indiscriminate killings, and violent attacks.

Even first-class Ekiti monarchs have fallen victim to this rising wave of instability.

Olalekan passionately urged Nigerians to unite and demand accountability from the government. “This is not the time for silence,” he asserted.

“We must raise our voices, hold our leaders accountable, and prioritize the welfare of our people. Failure to act now would be a betrayal to our nation, and history will remember us for it.”

In these dire circumstances, Olalekan’s resolute stance serves as a rallying cry for Nigerians to come together, voice their concerns, and demand concrete actions to alleviate their suffering.

His call for accountability in the face of economic challenges and insecurity underscores the urgency of the situation.
