Nasarawa Assembly Crisis: Factional Deputy Speaker, Two Others Renounce Ogazi’s Camp

The deputy speaker that emerged from the Hon. Daniel Ogah Ogazi’s faction of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly and two other members yesterday renounced the Ogazi’s camp.

 Earlier, the immediate past speaker, Mr. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, (APC Umaisha/Ugya Constituency), was re-elected by 11 members at the state Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs as speaker.

While Ogazi (APC-Kokona East Constituency) was also elected speaker by 13 members at the State House of Assembly complex, with Hon. Mohammed Oyanki (PDP, Doma North Constituency) elected as his deputy.

But the Ogah Ogazi’s led factional Deputy Speaker, Hon. Mohammed Oyanki (PDP – Doma North) led two other members of Hon. Ovey John (PDP – Keffi East) and Hon. Hudu A Hudu (APC -Awe North) to renounce the Ogazi’s faction and joined the Balarabe Abdullahi’s camp.

Consequently, the factional Speaker of the Balarabe’s camp, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, yesterday swore in the three members-elect from the Hon. Daniel Ogazi led faction into his fold at the State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Lafia.

Speaking with journalists shortly after their inauguration, Oyanki, said that they decided to join the Balarabe’s camp in the interest of peace, unity and development of their constituencies and the state at large.

“In the interest of our people and the state, we decided to join Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Speaker of the Assembly to contribute our quota to the development of the state,” Oyanki maintained.\
