Anger Trails National Assembly Supplementary Election in Sokoto over Late Arrival of Materials

There was anger and fury amongst voters in Sokoto as late arrival of electoral materials characterised the supplementary national assembly elections in the state.

Speaking to newsmen at 017 polling unit in Shuni the member representing Dange/Shuni , Tureta , Bodinga federal constituency Dr Balarabe Kakale said he was disappointed at the action of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Kakale noted that upon the assurance the electoral body gave them , the umpire had not shown commitment to conduct free, fair and credible rerun .

He said the election that should have commenced by 8:am, electoral materials are yet to arrive at polling units at 10am.

He alleged that the action was a ploy by INEC to rig the election, saying even when they came late most of the BVAS machines were not functioning and the adhoc staff on ground to operate the machines were inexperienced.

“You know billions of naira were voted for INEC for this election but look at what is happening, even their adhoc staff were not properly trained”,  he stated.

He said they had registered their protest to INEC, saying the trend is discouraging.

He implored INEC to allow the will and wishes of the electorate prevail.

“Virtually every where the story are the same, in Amana, Dange, Shuni same story,” he said.
