‘FG Remains Committed to Reduce Youths Restiveness, Unemployment’

The federal government has stated its commitment to reduce youth’s restiveness and unemployment in the country.

Already, the government has directed the Hdro Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) to train over 5000 youths in various skills acquisition in riverine communities in the six geo political zones covering Kwara, ,Kebbi, Niger, Benue  and Plateau States.

Speaking at the flag-off of HYPADEC Youth Transformation Programme in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, the State Coordinator of HYPPADEC, Mrs. Alhassan Hajara Ndaman, stated that the programme  would go a long way in making the youths to be self-reliant and thereby contributing to the economic  growth of the affected areas.

She said that “youth are an integral part of any society, just like flowers, and they have important responsibilities to discharge.

 “The youth population is an asset of a nation. They are the factor of national power that if rightly utilised, can lead a country to its height of glory and prosperity.”

 Ndaman added that “the programme is meant to train 5000 youths from across the six HYPPADEC member states twice a year within the period of three to six months depending on vocation or skills the prospective candidates have chosen.

 “The total number of trainees to be trained in Kwara is 490 youths with expected beneficiaries of at least 70 per cent from affected communities.

“This is with the view of reducing the number of teeming unemployed youths from member states of the commission so that they become useful members of the society.

“With the appropriate directions and facilities from the commission, it is conspicuous why the youth need to be uplifted and why their energy must be channeled in the right direction.”
