Gunmen Attack Enugu Community over Non- compliance to Sit-at-home

There was chaos yesterday morning after masked gunmen, suspected to be members of the Indegenous People of Biafra, IPOB, enforcing the sit-at-home order attacked residents of Obollo-Afor town in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The latest attack comes a week after gunmen suspected to be members of the IPOB, also enforcing the order attacked Umueze and Agbani in Nkanu West Local Government Area of the state, causing palpable fear among residents who had come out to transact businesses.

The gunmen, who were said to have come into the commercial town of Obollo Afor on motorcycles, were seen beating traders who had opened their shops for business and destroying their wares.

Residents of the area were seen scampering for safety as the hoodlums chased after them with whips.

They gunmen were also alleged to have set ablaze a tricycle after discharging its owner and the passengers. A Sienna vehicle belonging to the Udenu Central Neighborhood Watch was also destroyed in the attack.

Eyewitness told newsmen that members of the Udenu Central Neighborhood Watch took to their heels on sighting the gunmen before their vehicle was destroyed.

At the time of filing this report, a team of security operatives dispatched to the town had restored normalcy. The police were yet to confirm the attack
